Libertad 370, Ancud, X Región, Chile
The Regional Museum of Ancud is a cultural space located in the city of Ancud, on the island of Chiloé, Chile. It is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the natural, historical and cultural heritage of the Chiloé archipelago, offering an in-depth look at its rich history and traditions.
The museum houses a varied collection of archaeological, ethnographic and historical objects that narrate the evolution of Chiloé from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Its exhibits include tools and ceramics from the Chono and Huilliche indigenous peoples, models of the emblematic churches of Chiloé, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and elements of the daily life of the Chiloé, such as traditional clothing, utensils, and boats.
One of the most important attractions is the replica of the Schooner Ancud, the ship that in 1843 departed from Chiloé to take possession of the Strait of Magellan, ensuring Chilean sovereignty in the southern zone.
