The Neumeyer Refuge, located in Bariloche, is an excellent destination for mountaineering and hiking lovers. This refuge is located on the southern slope of Cerro López, offering breathtaking views of the Andes Mountains and Lake Nahuel Huapi.
The ascent to the Neumeyer Refuge usually begins at the base of the hill, near Route 40, and takes place along a path that crosses lenga and coihue forests, offering a mountain landscape characteristic of Patagonia. The route is not extremely difficult, but it has steep sections that require good fitness and, in some cases, the recommendation of local guides due to changing weather conditions.
The ascent to the refuge takes approximately 4 to 6 hours, depending on the pace and conditions of the terrain. As you gain altitude, the vegetation changes, and you begin to see a wilder landscape with panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding mountains. The refuge itself is cozy, offering a place to rest and enjoy the tranquility of the mountain environment.
