The "Francisco P. Moreno" Museum of Patagonia, located in the Civic Center of San Carlos de Bariloche, is a key site to learn about the history, geography and culture of the Patagonian Andean region. Founded in 1940, the museum is named after the explorer and naturalist Francisco Pascasio Moreno, who played a fundamental role in the exploration and delimitation of the Argentine Patagonian territory.
The museum has several thematic rooms that range from the geology and fauna of the region to the history of the native peoples, European colonization and the formation of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. In its exhibitions you can see fossils, indigenous tools, historical documents and elements of the daily life of the first settlers.
