Located in the center of the coastal town of Rada Tilly, in the province of Chubut, the Regional Museum of Rada Tilly is a cultural space that invites you to explore the natural and human history of the Patagonian region. Since its inauguration on February 27, 1987, the museum has been dedicated to preserving and disseminating the regional heritage, offering visitors of all ages an educational and enriching experience.
Among the main attractions of the museum are its five themed rooms. The Paleontology section exhibits marine and terrestrial fossils that illustrate the evolution of the Patagonian environmental system, while the Archaeology and Ethnohistory area presents objects and tools used by the ancient inhabitants of the region, hunter-gatherer groups that inhabited the territory more than 13,000 years ago. The room dedicated to Flora and Fauna recreates the marine and terrestrial ecosystems, providing a detailed vision of the natural environment of the coast and the southern plateau.
One of the highlights is the Cueva de los Felinos, a room that reproduces the famous cave located on the central plateau of Santa Cruz, known for its cave paintings of felines and other prehistoric motifs. This exhibition offers a unique experience for those who are interested in the rock art of the native peoples.
In addition to its natural and historical wealth, the Rada Tilly Regional Museum houses the municipality's Historical Archive, which preserves photographs and documents essential to understanding the evolution of the community since the 1950s. This archive has been key in carrying out academic research and in the creation of thematic exhibitions.
