A good possibility to see the Pacific Ocean is to cross this wonderful natural pass formed by two lakes: Huillinco and Cucao.
Taking Castro as a start point, on km. 24 of the Panamerican route there is a turning to Huillinco, where plantations and old houses are the mute exponents of regional colonization. In kilometer 33 is lake Huillinco, with a population of 336 inhabitants, a beach, inn and lodges. Its maximum depth does not reach seventy meters. The road goes on skirting lake Cucao, not deeper than 20 meters.

If we take the road on the outlet of the lake, we get to Chiloé National Park, with cabins and camping sites, natural interpretation trails and a predominance of arrayanes in an evergreen rainforest.
