San Antonio Oeste, bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, captivates visitors with its rich history, natural beauty and a variety of activities to explore. In this destination, where nature blends with tradition, the history of olive oil production flourishes. The semi-arid climate accompanies the region's producers who embrace the challenge of cultivating olive groves that produce oil of exceptional quality.
A gift that enriches every mouthful
With cuttings from Catamarca, Oleosan started its venture and, today, is a benchmark for extra virgin olive oil in Patagonia. The planting of arbequina and misión varieties marked the beginning, followed by the installation of a 200-hectare irrigation network from the Pomona San Antonio canal.
After 67 years of investment, the opening of the sluice gave way to the harvesting and production of an oil of exceptional quality that conquered the market. As of 2022, the history of the venture took a turn towards gastronomic tourism, with the construction of a tasting room to receive visitors and provide explanatory talks, as well as the expansion of the retail room and the planting of a 3-hectare vineyard. Diversification continues with an additional 40 hectares of olive trees to expand the production of green table olives.
The quality and resilience of these olive groves, combined with the passion of the producers, elevate the presence of Patagonian olive oils on the international scene. Each of oil from Patagonian olive trees is a unique expression of the perseverance, innovation and beauty inherent to this region. A liquid treasure that captures the essence of the sea and shares its history through an authentic flavor.
The arid climate of the San Antonio Oeste steppe, influenced by the proximity of the sea, is a blessing for olive plantations. The thermal variations between day and night contribute to the accumulation of aromas and flavors in the olives, giving them complexity and character. This climatic balance favors the gradual ripening of the olives, which is essential for the production of premium olive oils. In addition, the salty breeze infuses the olives with a distinctive touch and enriches the flavor palette of the oils produced in this coastal region.
The versatility of olive oil is revealed in fresh salads, sophisticated dressings and marinades that transform meats and fish. Olive oil is an expression of the land, a gift that enriches every bite with its essence. That is why Oleosan invites you to be part of its history, by visiting them and sharing the excitement of this new chapter of perfect balance between the bitter and the fruity of olives.
